The European University Championships Volleyball 2007 are over. The winners are Gazi University from Turkey (men) and Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism (women). The full ranking can be found here (PDF).

So, we’re on the fifth day of the event and the ranking is taking shape now. Today the last matches of the first competition phase are being played, so there will be some fierce competition among the teams that still need to secure their place in the quarter finals.

Yesterday evening the tournament had it’s official opening ceremony, with the obligatory speeches (luckily all but one very short), some nice dance performances and of course the presentation of all the teams. After all the official stuff, we all had fun at the after-party.
